Denver Lawsuit – Taxotere Hair Loss Cases

Denver taxotere lawsuits

Taxotere (docetaxel) is a chemotherapy medication approved for the treatment of breast cancer, advanced stomach cancer, head and neck cancer, non-small cell lung cancer and metastatic prostate cancer. The drug is administered intravenously in hour long chemotherapy sessions, generally every three weeks until the cancer is reduced or removed. Taxotere is a member of the drug family known as taxanes.

Unfortunately, reports have indicated that Taxotere may be responsible for a condition known as alopecia. Alopecia is a type of hair loss that occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks hair follicles. This condition is usually temporary, however, several women who underwent chemotherapy using Taxotere have reported permanent hair loss, or the inability to grow hair at all after treatment.

Taxotere was predominately prescribed to women suffering from breast cancer. A 2013 study conducted by the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) found permanent hair loss as a side effect in 10-15% of patients who were administered the chemotherapy drug.
